Woodland Adventure Nursery Theme

Woodland Theme Nursery

We fall more in love with the Pacific Northwest every day, so for our second son’s nursery theme, we wanted to capture the beauty of the northwest- from forest to coast! Adventure and woodland nursery themes are really popular right now, so we found a lot of fun decor in stores- as well as some special antiques and foraged items from nature.

For each of our kids, we picked an animal that we wanted to represent all they would grow up to be. For our firstborn, Banner, we picked a lion (check out his world travel nursery theme here). For Anchor, we picked a bear. LOL we made a huge mistake because this kid is strong, wild, and doesn’t take no for an answer. But anyways… we got this cute little bear from IKEA. (They make the best baby-safe stuffed animals. No hard eyes for choking, and machine washable!) We got the lullaby bear (affectionately called “Blue”) from Amazon and it helped him get to sleep so much better!

You can read all about this DIY red dresser project here, but I picked it up for $20 and completely transformed it! We loved it so much that we made it a statement piece in both nurseries. After having a less expensive glider with my previous baby, this rocking chair has been absolutely dreamy! It’s big enough for my 6’2″ husband to sit in, wide enough to nurse in without bumping baby’s head, and nice enough to put in the living room eventually. It’s an investment that’s SO worth it! While this one was unfortunately discontinued, I linked a similar one above. We also opted to just put a changing pad on a dresser instead of buying a changing table. Those pieces of driftwood on the dresser were picked up on the Oregon Coast.

Can you believe that this darling mobile was handmade by one of our closest friends?! I keep telling her to start an Etsy shop, because so many people ask about where I got this! Each wood piece has a different hand-painted scene from the Pacific Northwest. I did find a really cute woodland mobile here though!

USA Wood Piece

Even though we’re in a rental and can’t paint, we used lots of art to transform Anchor’s room into the perfect adventure nursery! Our same friend who created the mobile above also painted this PNW map. I know. She’s pretty amazing!!

Adventure Art // Similar Driftwood Shelf

We picked up these 1948 Cub Scout handbooks from an antique shop in Cannon Beach, Oregon, during our babymoon. We also went hunting for the perfect piece of driftwood to create this shelf! Oregon has some really friendly laws for collecting driftwood, which means you can really get creative with home decor. We attached brackets from Home Depot.
